Conservation Technician & Herbarium Digitization Technician

Sydney first joined BRIT as an intern summer of 2017 where she worked with Dr. Brooke Best on BRIT’s Living Roof project. She became a staff member of BRIT in May 2019, working as a Herbarium Digitization Technician to assist in the digitization of herbarium specimens. In October 2019 Sydney joined the BRIT Conservation Program as a technician. As a conservation technician she works with the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to protect and survey rare plant species in Texas. Her prior research experience involves studying how trophic cascades impact plants and insects in multiple prairie restoration projects and in agroecology. In the future Sydney hopes to continue studying how plants and insects interact and impact one another.
