BRIT® Announces Monthly Farmers Market

FORT WORTH — The Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) is pleased to announce that it will host its inaugural monthly farmers market on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Subsequent farmers markets will be held at BRIT on the first Saturday of every month.

The farmers market will feature a variety of fresh, seasonal produce from local community gardens based around Fort Worth. Among other seasonal items, vendors will be selling locally-grown tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, peas, beans, carrots, beets, kale, collards, radishes, herbs, and more. Live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly entertainment will also be present on-site.

In addition, BRIT encourages families visiting the farmers market to stay for BRIT’s Science Saturday workshops and programs, which include public tours of BRIT’s LEED-certified facility, Bella’s Story Time, and (during April and May) a Plant Walk with Dr. Grace Bascopé of the Maya Research Program, who will teach participants about plants that were commonly used on the Texas prairie centuries before Europeans arrived.
