The BRIT Libraries
|
The BRIT Libraries serve to support the taxonomic research done by botanists at BRIT, visiting researchers, and to support the educational programs sponsored and hosted by BRIT. The scientific reference collection includes materials valuable for research and systematic botany, particularly those with descriptions of new species. The remainder of the collection has been carefully selected to represent a comprehensive library of scientific and taxonomic books and publications primarily for naming and classifying plants. It is one of the largest and finest collections of botanical literature in the southwestern United States. Foremost among the programs sponsored by BRIT is that of the Science Education Program. Students and teachers use books from BRIT's library to enrich their studies and to reach a fuller understanding of the value of plants. The libraries operate as a reference library and are open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To maximize use of time, appointments are recommended. |
