Texas Tree Trails
“The mission of the Texas Tree Trails program is to find, locate, recognize, measure, photograph, and gather data on all significant trees in or near the DFW area. Our aim is to educate the public by showcasing the importance of these botanical, historical and cultural treasures and to preserve their presence for future generations. We plan to accomplish this by presenting this data on a web site with "virtual tours", promotions, and publications of various types plus development of various "tree trails" within the program region.” Texas Tree Trails maintains the database of DFW champion and historic trees (currently as an Excel file with 246 entries), and the website hosts Virtual Tours of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Champion Tree Trail and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden Champion Tree Trail. The TTT organization is a cooperative effort between the Texas Forest Service, the Dallas Historic Tree Coalition, the Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council, and the Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council, among others.

Fort Worth Urban Forestry Compliance
“The Urban Forestry Compliance Section [of FW Parks & Community Services] was created to enforce the new tree ordinance. The new tree ordinance limits the removal of tree canopy and protected trees. It promotes multi-aged forest, orderly development of the City of Fort Worth and protects the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens.” The FW Tree Preservation Ordinance (January 2007) is posted here.
