"The Lonely Tree"

One morning I walked out to the pond in my grandmother's backyard. I walked across the yard and through the bushes. Finally I jumped into the pond (it was empty) and sat against the tree.
It was special because I was alone and could read or write in peace. It felt nice and cool under its big strong branches that made so much shade covering that empty pond. I felt like I was in a world where on one else existed. It was shady but had enough light to read by.
I took my book out and felt a wave of peacefulness wash over me. "I'll bet that this tree was lonely but is glad I'm here", I thought. "I wonder if any fairies live here", I said, "in this cool shade that isn't disrupted a lot."
After a few chapters I had to go in. I was just so hungry! "Bye tree", I said, looked at my page number so I could come back to it, and raced across the dewy lawn. "I'll come back later", I thought. "Where are you, Turner?" I heard someone call. "Coming", I replied and took off.
