"The Growth of the John Peter Smith"

Danielle Kelley: Third Grade

Lily B. Clayton Elementary FWISD

Ms. Bradshaw: teacher

The John Peter Smith tree is named after John Peter Smith. John Peter Smith was the mayor of Fort Worth a long time ago. He was also a teacher. He donated the land where John Peter Smith Hospital now stands. The tree was named in his honor like the hospital.

There is a metal plaque that says "This is the John Peter Smith tree".

I love John Peter Smith. He must have cared a lot about poor people because the J.P.S. Hospital cures patients even if they cannot pay for care. The John Peter Smith tree is still there, but John Peter Smith isn't. John Peter Smith Hospital is growing just like the tree. We still remember John Peter Smith, and his legacy of caring for the poor lives on.
