    Task


    Description


    Organize and Digitize our Exchange Folders/Files; Seek New Exchange Partners Scan/digitize all our exchange partner correspondences and organize into folders or create a database. Volunteer would also search for appropriate botanical publications not already received and seek to establish new scholarly exchanges with like institutions.
    Mail Preparation Help prepare our journal mailing supplies twice a year. This task entails taping, stuffing, and labeling priority and domestic mailers to send out to our many subscribers and partners.
    SIDA/JBRIT Atrium Bibliography Module Individual would do database entry of literature records from BRIT's own journals into BRIT's Atrium Database. Researchers use this database to find references on particular genera, families, and other subjects. Volunteer would also edit bibliographic records and add links to records from BHL (Biodiversity Heritage Library).
    Journal Indexing Index current or past issues of the journal (authors, reviewers, titles, subjects, etc.). Prepare the index for the year-end print volume. Volunteers would also connect keywords with the Atrium module described above. Lastly, convert back issues into electronic files for the web.
    Journal Reprints Sort article reprints for authors once the journal has been published and reprints are ordered.
    Research Universities, Colleges, Museums, Herbaria, Botanical Organizations, etc. for New Subscribers Compile a list of and checking which already have subscriptions/standing orders, write and send form letter with sample copy of the journal/book. In essence, seeking out potential new subscribers to our journal and book series.
    Review Books Process review book requests and input data into the database as well as publish the list of available titles on the BRIT website so potential reviewers may know what is available. Volunteers may also take books and do reviews themselves.
    Copyediting Read and edit submitted manuscripts for spelling and grammatical errors.
