Barney Lipscomb always has time to say hello!

 

Barney L. Lipscomb, Dorothea Leonhardt Chair of Texas Botany, Head of BRIT Press

B.S., Cameron University, Oklahoma; M.S. University of Arkansas. Systematic botanist, educator, editor.

In addition to the publications program, Barney is one of the three authors of Shinners and Mahler's Illustrated Flora of North Central Texas and the Illustrated Flora of East Texas. Barney serves on the Board of Consultants for the North Texas Poison Center in Dallas, and has research interests in the application of botany to forensic science. As Editor of Journal of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas as well as Sida, Botanical Miscellany, Barney plays an integral role in disseminating some of the results of the BRIT research staff in our internationally distributed, peer-refereed journals. Barney's personal taxonomic specialty is the family Cyperaceae, and he has carried out fieldwork in various parts of the U.S., Mexico and Central America. Barney is an active member of the Council of Botanical and Horticultural Libraries (CBHL).

Brooke Byerley, Assistant Editor of BRIT Press

Brooke serves as managing editor for the journal, technical editor for BRIT's books and magazine, Iridos, and webmaster for the BRIT Press website. She is also a member of the BRIT Research staff, occupying the position of Assoicate Texas Botanist. Brooke earned a Ph.D. in botany from Colorado State University, where she studied floral morphology and evolution in the genus Phlox (Polemoniaceae).

Christian comes to BRIT with a background in graphic design and layout. When he is not managing the business side of BRIT Press, Christian is helping with the design of in-house brochures, posters, newsletters, and other publications. He is also a pretty swell photographer.
