Wofford and Kral provide the first comprehensive treatment of the vascular plants of Tennessee since Augustin Gattinger’s The Flora of Tennessee and a Philosophy of Botany (1901). This new checklist updates the nomenclature and cites pertinent synonymy. The four major vascular plants groups are pteridophytes, gymnosperms, monocots, and dicots. Families within each group are arranged alphabetically; the genera and species are also arranged alphabetically within their respective families and genera. Rare plants, endemics and introduced taxa are highlighted. The checklist is concluded by a numerical synopsis and summary.
