Landscape Maintenance Through the Year

Have you ever wondered when to apply pre-emergent herbicide and fertilizer to your lawn? When to cut back perennials or prune roses? When to trim trees and shrubs? In this class, you will learn when to do these tasks, as well as a host of other tasks that need to be performed in the landscape throughout the year. Participants will also learn what to do each month of the year to stay on top of landscape maintenance. Start the new year off right by learning what needs to be done in January and every other month.

Chair Yoga

This yoga-style class is modified to accommodate those with physical limitations. All poses and exercises will be done seated or standing (using the chair for balance as necessary). Multiple variations will be given for each exercise, with allowances made for varying abilities. We'll do exercises to improve your flexibility, strength and balance, as well as mindfulness techniques that assist in stress and anxiety relief.

Hatha Yoga

Learn relaxation, complete breathing and proper body alignment while developing strength and flexibility through basic yoga postures. The class is suitable for newcomers to yoga but also offers a challenge to people who already practice yoga. Please bring your own mat to class and wear clothing that allows freedom of movement. Trees for North Central Texas

Trees frame our houses and provide shade, but they take the longest of any plant in the landscape to mature. Winter is an excellent time to plant trees so they can establish somewhat before the heat of summer. Plant Combinations

Learn how to combine annuals, perennials, shrubs and tropical plants in beds and containers to achieve stunning results in your landscape. We'll work with both cool and warm season plants to create year-round color combinations. After the class, we will view some of the plant combinations in beds and containers around the Botanic Garden. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

T'ai Chi in the Japanese Garden

This eight-week course teaches a beginner form of t'ai chi as created by Master Sun Lu Tang nearly a century ago. It's designed to give the busy office worker, student or senior a practical means of acquiring greater balance, strength and peace of mind. The emphasis is on stress reduction and relaxation. You'll practice at the most beautiful spot in the Japanese Garden in the Botanic Garden in Fort Worth.

Champagne in the Japanese Garden

Enjoy a sparkling wine during an evening in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden's beautiful Japanese Garden. Learn how sparkling wines are produced and sample five from different areas of the world, including Champagne, France. Please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne. You must be 21 or older to register for this course.
