Pat joined the staff of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas in 1995, having come from a middle school science classroom to help develop an education outreach program for the newly established institute. After two years as Education Coordinator, she was named Head of Education (1997) to oversee all education and outreach efforts. In 1999, she was promoted to Assistant Director, Head of Education.
Pat's efforts are focused on educating the public about the importance of biodiversity and the role of plants in the health and well being of all living things. She works with a talented education team to deliver dynamic and diverse education programming for students, teachers, and life-long learners, both locally and across the state. As Assistant Director, she assists with major projects to support the institution and is actively engaged in the planning and fundraising for a new sustainably designed home for the Institute.
