George is Professor of Biology at Austin College, senior author of the Shinners and Mahler's Illustrated Flora of North Central Texas (Extensive online information from this book is available), and the Illustrated Flora of East Texas, that is now being prepared. His research interests include the flora of Texas, neotropical floristics and phylogenetic systematics of the Ericaceae. George has carried out fieldwork in Africa, Australia, Central and South America, Mexico, Canada and the U.S.
