Press Business Manager

Christina earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Ethics with a minor in Medical Anthropology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, accompanied by minors in Chemistry and Philosophy, at the University of North Texas.  In the forthcoming years, she will be working towards a Doctor of Naturopathy at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Health Disparities at the Oregon Health & Science University.

Particularly concerned with medical ethics and interested in ethnobotanical research, Ms. Nelson is passionate about alleviating today’s ecological and health-related problems.  As a graduate student, she examined the kinship between medicine and the environment, and taught Multicultural Philosophy.  She has traveled to northern India and rural Mexico to study indigenous knowledge, health disparities, and the degradation of natural resources.  During the summer of 2007, she participated in a tropical disease medical workshop in Ecuador, specifically focusing on waterborne parasites and bioexplanatory models.

Christina has interned at Yale University’s Center for Bioethics, done research in the fields of botany, neuroscience, and women’s health.  She has attended many international conferences on issues ranging from environmental philosophy to economic reform policies, and has published and presented a paper entitled, “Ecofeminism and Deep Ecology.”  She is interested in complementary and alternative medicine, and will incorporate holistic natural healing in her practice as a naturopathic physician and medical ethnobotanist.
