Tiana joined the BRIT staff on August 1, 2003, as Collections Assistant in the BRIT Herbarium. Curatorial duties include filing, mounting, assisting with volunteers, and managing the various exchange and gift material that BRIT receives and sends out. Also included in her duties are the maintenance of exchange databases, as well as other records, and assisting with volunteers, educational programs, research, and publications.
As of December 15, 2004, Tiana has been working for the international research programs at BRIT, helping to manage the thousands of plant specimens, data, and related botanical activities associated with projects in Peru and New Guinea. Her work involves imaging these specimens, entering and managing data, and coordinating their correct identification by taxonomic experts. She also assists in the collection of morphological, ecological, and geographical data from the herbarium specimens.
As of January 1, 2009, Tiana has taken over the position of Collections Manager in the Herbarium.
Tiana completed her M.S. degree in 2007 with a thesis titled "Diversity and Distribution of the Myristicaceae Family of Plants in Terra Firme and Seasonally Flooded Forests in Madre de Dios, Peru."
